Family activity alerts for coaches

Family activity alerts help a coach notice new logs created by families they currently support. The bell badge, alert list and optional phone notifications provide a quick route back to the relevant tracker.

Activity alerts are being introduced gradually and may not be available for every account yet.

Who this guide is for

This guide is for coaches with current access to family activity records.

What you can do

  • See an unread count on the coach notification bell.
  • Review new family activity in Unread, All and Muted views.
  • Open the family and tracker connected to an alert.
  • Pause all activity alerts.
  • Mute alerts from one family.
  • Turn on optional phone alerts on a compatible mobile app.

Alerts are for coaches. Families do not receive these coach notifications.

Turn activity alerts on

Activity alerts start off for each coach.

  1. Open the coach notifications area from the bell.
  2. Open the activity-alert preference.
  3. Turn alerts on.

Only activity created after you enable or resume alerts becomes unread. Older eligible activity remains available in All without creating a backlog of unread alerts.

Review the alert list

  • Unread shows new activity that is not muted.
  • All shows eligible family activity even when alerts were paused or that family was muted.
  • Muted shows activity from families whose alerts you have muted.

Cards can show the family, baby, activity type, when it was created and a short summary. Medication and solids summaries deliberately avoid sensitive detail.

Choose a card to open the relevant family tracker. Opening an unread card marks the currently loaded alerts for that family as seen.

The notification read marker is separate from the general “new activity” marker on your family list. Clearing one does not necessarily clear the other.

Pause and resume all alerts

Use the global alert setting in the notifications area.

  • Pausing clears the unread count but does not delete activity from All.
  • Resuming starts from the time you resume, so activity from the paused period does not suddenly become unread.

Mute or unmute one family

Use the family alert control on an alert card or family entry.

  • Muting removes that family's contribution from Unread while keeping it in All and Muted.
  • Unmuting starts a fresh alert period. Activity created while muted does not become a new unread backlog.

Turn on phone alerts

Phone alerts are optional and may require a newer mobile app.

  1. Make sure general activity alerts are on.
  2. Open the phone-alert setting on mobile.
  3. Allow notifications when your phone asks.

Phone alerts use private, general wording such as New family activity. They do not put the family name, baby name, activity type, measurements, medicine or notes on the lock screen.

Which activity creates an alert

An alert can appear for activity created by a family while you currently support that family and can view their activities. Activity you create as a coach does not create a family-activity alert for you.

If support or record access ends, that family's cards and unread contribution are no longer available.

If something goes wrong

  • If the bell or activity-alert area is missing, the feature may not yet be enabled for your account.
  • If Unread is empty, check All and confirm that alerts are enabled.
  • If a family is missing from Unread, check whether it is muted.
  • If a preference change fails, the app restores the previous setting; try again.
  • If live updates are delayed, use manual refresh or return to the app.
  • If phone permission was denied, keep phone alerts off and change permission in your device settings before trying again.
  • If your mobile app is too old for phone alerts, update it; the in-app alert list may still remain available.
