Use activity timers

Timers make it easier to record Breastfeeding, Sleep and Pumping as they happen. A timer continues while you move around the app, and stopping it gives you a chance to review the entry before saving.

Who this guide is for

  • Families timing a care activity.
  • Authorized coaches recording an activity while viewing a family.

Start a timer

  1. Select the correct baby.
  2. Open Breastfeed, Sleep or Pumping.
  3. Choose a timer action. For Breastfeed and Pumping, choose left or right when needed.
  4. Confirm that the running timer appears.

Moving to another screen does not stop the timer. Up to three running timers can appear as floating bubbles. Select a bubble to return to the correct baby and tracker.

You can run timers for different babies or different activity types at the same time. Starting another timer for the same baby and activity type replaces the duplicate so there is one current timer for that combination.

Stop and review a timer

  1. Return to the timer and choose Stop.
  2. Review the start and stop times and any other details.
  3. Add or correct information in the normal activity form.
  4. Choose Save to create the care record, or Discard if you do not want to keep it.

Leaving the review screen without saving keeps the stopped draft available so you can return later.

What happens with a poor connection

The app keeps a local timer and its review draft available when it cannot connect. A family recording for its own household can also keep the final new activity as pending and retry it when the connection returns. Coaches must reconnect before saving an activity for a supported family.

A timed-out retry should not create a second copy of the same activity. While an entry is pending, do not manually enter the same event again. Use the retry or discard controls shown with that item.

Sleep timer on your phone

On supported devices, a family Sleep timer may also appear in an iPhone Live Activity/widget or Android widget/notification. Availability depends on the installed app version, phone model and operating-system settings.

The in-app timer continues to work if the phone widget cannot update. Coaches viewing a family use the in-app timer only; their device does not become the family's sleep-timer control.

Things to know

  • Timers belong to a particular family, baby and activity type.
  • Reloading the app should restore running timers and unfinished review drafts.
  • A timer is not a final care record until it has been stopped, reviewed and saved.
  • Deleting a baby also removes that baby's timer state.

If something goes wrong

  • Timer is running but sync failed: keep the app open when possible and reconnect; the local timer should continue.
  • Timer reappears after stopping: refresh the tracker and allow the latest state to load before stopping it again.
  • Stopped draft appears after a reload: review and save or discard it; this is the unfinished timer, not a duplicate activity.
  • Saved activity is pending: reconnect and use retry rather than entering it again.
  • Phone widget is missing: check notification/widget permissions and continue with the timer inside the app.
  • Coach can no longer save: the family relationship or write permission may have changed.
