Session prep and coach reports
Session prep brings one family's recent tracking, questionnaire answers, sleep-plan context and coach notes into a single review workspace. Use it to prepare for a session and create a clear report.
The summaries describe the data that has been logged. They are preparation aids, not medical advice or a diagnosis.
Who this guide is for
This guide is for coaches with current permission to view a family's records.
What you can do
- Choose a family, baby and reporting period.
- Review sleep, feeding and settling summaries.
- Compare average sleep for days with different logged nap counts.
- Inspect timelines and daily sleep totals.
- Read answered questionnaire questions.
- Review a detailed activity log.
- Keep baby-level and activity-level private notes.
- Download a generated PDF or print the visible report.
Prepare a session
- Open the family from your coach workspace.
- Choose Session prep.
- Confirm the family and baby.
- Choose a 7-, 14- or 30-day period, or use a custom range in the coach portal.
- Wait for the report, questionnaires and notes to load.
Changing the family or baby reloads the report. If you have an unsaved baby note, the portal asks before discarding it.
Understand the summary cards
Cards can show day sleep, night sleep, total sleep, longest and shortest sleeps, inferred night wakes, feeds, bottle totals, awake periods and settling time.
Open a card to see what it means and how the value was calculated. You can hide cards you do not need. In the coach portal, you can also reorder them; these choices are stored on that browser or device.
Some useful cautions:
- No data means there was not enough suitable logging for that calculation.
- Night wakes are inferred from separate night-sleep stretches; they are not a directly entered wake count.
- Bottle amounts in different units are not converted. Treat mixed-unit totals with care.
- When comparing results, use the same screen and date range; incomplete days can affect the summary.
Compare sleep by logged nap count
The Sleep by logged nap count section is available in mobile Session prep and the coach portal. It groups sleep days by the number of daytime sleep entries recorded for that day.
Each row or card shows:
- the logged nap count, such as 2 logged naps or 3 logged naps;
- the number of sleep days contributing to that group;
- average day sleep;
- average night sleep; and
- average total sleep.
Only sleep days with nighttime sleep logged are included. Night sleep recorded after midnight may be joined to the previous sleep day so split overnight entries remain together.
Use the sleep-day count to judge how much data supports each average. A group based on one sleep day is less representative than a group supported by several days. If only one nap pattern is present, the report shows its averages but there is not another pattern in that range to compare it with.
No logged naps means there were no daytime sleep entries recorded for those sleep days. It does not confirm that no naps happened.
Review graphs and logs
Use the timeline orientation that is easiest for you to read. Very short activities are made large enough to select, so their visual size may not equal their true duration.
The daily chart separates day sleep and night sleep. The activity log includes the family's note and useful activity details. Questionnaire answers are grouped by questionnaire and section.
In the coach portal, the timeline section shows up to the most recent 14 days even when the activity log covers a longer selected period.
Add private working notes
Use the baby private-note area for ongoing preparation context. Activity rows can also have individual Private coach note entries.
These notes are for the signed-in coach and are not added to the family's notes. See Coach-private notes for privacy and editing guidance.
Save or share a report
Download PDF creates a report containing the visible summary cards, the sleep-by-nap-count comparison, timeline, daily sleep chart, questionnaire answers and activity log. Coach-private note text is excluded from this generated PDF.
Browser Print prints the visible page. If the private-note column is visible, those private notes may be included.
Use Download PDF when you need the current private-note-free report. Treat a browser-printed report as coach-private unless you have carefully checked every page.
Things to know
- The report uses only the selected baby's activity that you are allowed to view for the chosen period.
- Empty days and incomplete logging can affect averages.
- The report does not automatically interpret the contents of an attached sleep-plan PDF.
- The visible calculations are based on recorded data and family context, not an AI recommendation.
If something goes wrong
- If the date range is invalid, make sure the end is on or after the start.
- If the main report fails, use retry before changing to another family.
- If only private notes fail to load, the rest of the report remains available.
- If activity private notes are missing, choose a shorter reporting period and try again.
- If there are no activities, expect empty graphs and No data summary cards.
